MONTPELLIER — Meet 'Luma,'the solar-powered robot that identifies and pulls weeds without the use of a single drop of chemical pesticide. The startup behind the bot, 'Terra-Pulse,' is disrupting the agricultural market by moving away from expensive equipment sales to a subscription-based model. For a monthly fee, small-scale organic farmers receive a fleet of Luma bots that patrol their fields 24/7. The bots use multispectral cameras to distinguish between crops and invasive species. "This makes high-tech organic farming accessible to family farms that could never afford a $200k tractor," says founder Jean Luc. The data collected by the bots is also sent back to the farmer's dashboard, providing real-time soil health alerts and pest migration patterns. Early trials show a 15% increase in yield and a 90% reduction in manual labor costs.
