BRUSSELS — In aneffort to combat the 'always-on' culture exacerbated by remote work, the European Union is drafting a sweeping 'Right to Disconnect' directive. If passed, companies with over 50 employees will be legally required to shut down their internal messaging servers between 8 PM and 7 AM, preventing the delivery of non-emergency emails. Proponents argue it is a necessary step to protect mental health in the digital age, while critics claim it harms the flexibility that global remote workers rely on.
